Life without a Face(book)

A friends teenage daughter recently posted that her facebook page had been taken away from her. Upon speaking with her mother I found out that this was a form of grounding a type of necessary punishment for todays adolescent.

I thought this was interesting and an indicator of how the times have changed. When I was a child I was punished by not being allowed to go outdoors to play or my bike was taken away from me or the worse that could happen was that i would be grounded in the conventional sense -meaning I had to stay home after school and on weekends for an assigned period of time.
Today its "If you break the rules i will take away your cellphone -which you don't talk on anymore but use as a texting device, I will ban you from your Facebook account along with all of your 556 friends of which only 30 are people you really know and one other thing,  you need to read a book ....trust me its fun."

Times have changed indeed.
